Midnight Vision

Midnight Vision concentrates perception on a moment between glare and recognition. From cobalt-blue, violet and near-black zones, a gold-white field of light opens across the upper half of the painting. Horizontal marks, curved traces and translucent layers pass through its brightness without closing it into a fixed form. The vision appears not as a depicted motif, but as an event within the painting.

Under changing angles of light, the reflective elements of the pigment shift in intensity. Blue recedes, copper and gold flare up, while dark passages open or close spatial depth. The material surface remains constant even as its appearance is continually reordered by the viewer’s position.

Within the Midnight works, Vision names a distinct perceptual state: while Midnight Dream explores the emergence of inner image-spaces and Midnight Love the resonance between different fields of perception, Midnight Vision focuses on the instant in which something gathers in the dark and comes forth as an image. The work connects this process to the Fields of Experience: visibility arises through the interaction of matter, incident light and situated perception. Night becomes a space of heightened attention in which what is still indeterminate acquires a present form.
