Ivo belongs to a series in which the words of significant authors dissolve into fields of abstraction. Once language leaves the private realm of thought, its meaning can no longer be controlled by the person who first released it; reading becomes an encounter shaped by memory, context and the viewer.
The work responds to Ivo Andrić, in particular to The Bridge on the Drina. The bridge as a structure between people, places and cultures becomes the conceptual point of departure, but it is not illustrated. Instead, the painting considers what survives when an idea crosses from literature into another medium.
Within a dense red field, fragments of an Andrić quotation surface and recede. Language becomes material—partially legible, partially absorbed by colour. The work holds connection and disappearance together, allowing the bridge to emerge through the act of transmission itself.
