Baking Cookies with The Angels brings several spatial orders together within a single pictorial field. A foreshortened corridor leads into a chromatically condensed centre, while atmospheric fields, dark openings, spherical bodies and black-and-white grids introduce different scales and lines of sight. In the lower register, the architecture loses its solidity and gives way to lines, organic contours and diagrammatic fragments.
None of these spaces claims exclusive validity. Interior and sky, constructed perspective and open drawing, material objects and manifestations without a fixed location coexist. The painting does not integrate them into a continuous world; it keeps their transitions visible.
The title meets this complex pictorial architecture with an unexpectedly ordinary activity. Baking cookies with angels brings the domestic and the transcendent into immediate proximity without explaining one through the other. The angels do not appear as figures; they open the possibility of a shared space beyond familiar categories.
