Bühnenbildentwurf “Schwanensee” emerged in the studio while Tchaikovsky’s ballet filled the space. It is not a literal stage design, but a response to the spatial and emotional image produced by the music—the sensation that the painting itself might become a stage.
The work is tied to a specific winter moment. On 21 December, ice crystals covered the studio windows and caught the returning light. Their structures were transferred into the painting, allowing the physical cold of the room to become part of its visual language. Acrylic and epoxy resin hold and refract this encounter between frozen surface and luminosity.
Rather than illustrating the narrative of Swan Lake, the work translates an atmosphere between music, cold and image: a condition in which fragility and hope become perceptible through the same crystalline form.
