Bois d’argent is dedicated to the figures produced and sustained by imagination. They are not illustrated as fixed characters. Instead, bodily and creature-like forms emerge from the meeting of colour, line and gesture, only to recede before they can be fully identified.
Deep blues and black passages create a nocturnal ground, while pale blue, yellow and white forms move across it with different degrees of clarity. The painting allows recognition to remain provisional: a face, limb or silhouette can appear for a moment and then return to abstraction.
The work understands fantasy not as an escape from reality, but as a continuing mode of perception. Figures encountered through stories, dreams and personal memory remain active across a lifetime, repeatedly taking on new form within the present.
