Moll

Moll is built from a stark exchange between black and the exposed paper. Vertical masses rise through the print while lighter areas interrupt them, producing a space that can be read as architecture, figure or threshold without resolving into any one image.

The title names a musical mode often associated with melancholy, but the work does not illustrate an emotion. It treats tonality as structure: darkness, pause and interval organise the field and determine how the eye moves through it.

As a unique etching, the print retains the directness of its process. Scraped, pressed and transferred marks remain visible as physical events. The resulting image is compact yet open, holding weight and silence within the same register.
