Mittagssonne auf Capri marks the beginning of Hermetische Inseln der Glückseligkeit, a series in which places, images and memories are approached as self-contained zones carried within us. Capri is not rendered as a geographical view. It appears through colour, intensity and the afterimage of light.
Blue and green gather into an unstable field that moves between water, vegetation and reflection without settling into landscape. The brightness of midday gives the painting its clarity, but the surface remains layered and mobile; what seems immediately present also begins to dissolve.
The series asks how experiences become inner places—separate from linear time, yet repeatedly accessible through perception. As its opening work, Mittagssonne auf Capri establishes this movement from an external location towards a remembered and transformed state.
