BEYDES Summer Festival — Live Painting

Aether was conceived, begun and completed entirely during Nikolai’s invited live painting at the BEYDES Summer Festival. Rather than presenting a previously completed work, the event exposed the painting’s development as a continuous process in front of the audience.

The completed work was acquired by Christopher Weiß on the same day and subsequently installed at BEYDES in Berlin.

The live painting took place within a dedicated area of the BEYDES Summer Festival at the Postwerk in Berlin-Tegel. The event marked the first anniversary of BEYDES and brought together the creative community working within the former post office through talks, workshops, design, music and participatory formats.

Created within this environment, Aether subsequently remained connected to its site of origin: following its acquisition by Christopher Weiß on the day of the performance, the work was installed at BEYDES.
